RYE BROOK, N.Y., June 15, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chartwells Higher
Education Dining Services is proud to partner with NACUFS' national
award winning clients: Cleveland State University, Buffalo State
University and the University of Nevada, Reno.
The National Association of College and University Food Services -
NACUFS - recently announced the winners of its annual Loyal E. Horton
Dining Awards and Sustainability Awards. Cleveland State University and
Buffalo State University both won the 2012 Catering Special Event
category with a Gold and Bronze award respectively. The University of
Nevada, Reno won the Bronze award in the 2012 Retail Sales Single
Concept category. In college and university culinary arts, the ultimate
professional tribute is a NACUFS Loyal E. Horton Award. This award
celebrates exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning and
new dining concepts. It also provides an avenue for sharing ideas and
creative presentations in campus dining services.
The University of Nevada, Reno received the Bronze award in the NACUFS
2012 Sustainability Award Waste Management category. The team
submission was based on the EnviroPure EPW Wet System Food Waste
Digester used on campus at the Downunder Cafe. The NACUFS
Sustainability Awards annually recognize and honor member institutions
that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the promotion and
implementation of environmental sustainability, specifically as it
relates to campus dining operations. With this unique award, NACUFS
leads the foodservice industry in recognizing the pivotal role that
dining services play in the overall sustainability goals of a campus
and the daunting challenge that the dining services staff face in
satisfying customers and generating revenue while, simultaneously
minimizing environmental impact.
Chartwells President and CEO, Steve Sweeney said, "We're proud to
partner with these great academic institutions and the NACUFS industry
members that support new innovations which enhance campus dining
operations. Chartwells is committed to providing all of our guests with
award winning foodservice and eco-friendly practices that are aligned
with our clients' commitment to quality and sustainability."
NACUFS will announce grand-prize winners at its national conference
July 11-14, 2012 in Boston, Massachusetts. Details can be found at
